<p>When Kit began 11 years ago, TikTok didn’t exist, Instagram didn’t have reels, and the job everyone vied for was software engineering. Back then, when people talked about creators, it was done with air quotes and people didn’t believe in your potential to earn a full-time living with your work.</p>
<p>Today, <a href="https://www.antler.co/blog/the-creator-economy-boom-what-it-is-whats-driving" target="_blank" rel="noopener">29% of American high school students</a> have “creator” as their preferred career choice.</p>

That’s why alongside the launch of our app store, we’re also rolling out beta access for developers to build, test, and launch their own apps on Kit with our brand new API v4.</p>

<h2>We’re building the operating system for the creator economy</h2>
<p>You’ve done a lot with Kit over the years (like sending <strong>112.3B</strong> emails, earning <strong>$32.1M</strong> through <a href="https://kit.com/features/commerce" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kit Commerce</a>, and gaining <strong>5.8M</strong> subscribers from Recommendations), but we know that’s only the beginning.</p>
